Description

The old man is sitting at ease on a chair, supported by his stick and is looking forwards in a rather curious and amused manner. He is at peace with himself and observes the younger ones around him who still have to make an effort to manage their lives. He is beyond this phase of life, has carried out his duties and can survey his surroundings with greater detachment. Against the background of his own life experience, much of what he sees seems to be of lesser importance now and the excitement of the young people as they pursue their paths amuses him.

– What are you running for?
